ABOUT NAJIM
In 1981 the afghan television discovered a singer called Najim, who was young, good looking, malleable and above all, he had a good voice. He started his career with a Farsi song ABI BAQA KUJA that was a phenomenal success.

Najim's plus point against the contemporaries is the knowledge and use of the classical music which in turn have helped in molding his voice to its present com munificent manner. Najim's true inspiration in classical and ghazal singing is USTAD SARAHANG. The best part about Najim's music is the combination of four languages Farsi, Pushto, Urdu and Punjabi in which he is still unbeatable.

Najim can sing any type of song. Let it be Classical, Pop, Qawali, Ghazal, Romantic, Light music and slow numbers. Najim's favorite still remains Ghazals which he enjoys singing the most. He believes that the most important thing about a Ghazal is the mood it weaves with the help of sensitive lyrics.

Like other ghazal singer's Najim is blessed with a haunting melodious voice and tremendous laya control, which I witnessed at one of the latest concerts on Najim in London.

There are not many contemporary singers in the afghan community who can assign true musical portrayal to each couplet as effortlessly as Najim can. He is musically gifted and is highly skillful in filmi songs from the Indian industry so called BOLLYWOOD.

His versatility is very different and way too impressive. One thing, which I loved about Najim's singing, is that he does not imitate anyone nor does he stop anybody from imitating him.

Najim has composed numerous ghazals and geets. Najim as a composer always believes in complete creative freedom. These are some of the songs Najim composed:

1. Abi Baqa Kuja
2. Dar Khatir E Mane
3. Ze Gherya Dosh Na Ya Sud
4. Aan Qadar BA Atashe Dil
5. Ai Daer Ba Dast Amadaye
6. Ashiqe Zaret Astam
7. Gar As Ghame Ishq Ar Daraim
8. Baghe Dilam Ra
9. Doshe Ta Atashe Mai
10. Senna Az Atashe Dil
11. Rafte Ao Dil Neshast Ba Khon
12. Tu May Rawee Wa Ghamat

He is also currently working in composing Urdu and Pushto songs. Some of the songs listed are coming in his forth- coming albums, which will be released in the beginning of 2006.

Najim was born at Spinzar hospital Kunduz in Afghanistan. He hails from illustrious families, who were great warriors of one time. His father Sultan Mehmood Khan Nawabi was the first to take notice of the divine gift in Najim. He decided to concentrate all his efforts in providing all the support needed by him to make Najim big in the music world.

While most of the boy his age had fun, Najim was learning to master music. Najim's parents were instrumental in developing the flair for singing in Najim. They use to have Mehfil every Saturday at their place in which great singers like USTAD SASRHANG, USTAD SHAIDA and USTAD NABI GUL performed and this was how Najim got the chance to display his talent.

Najim was trained primarily by USTAD GHAFOR HASHIMI who was training Najim technically in Afghanistan. Najim has several opportunities to perform in public but by that time he left Afghanistan and flew to Pakistan where he spent two years.

In 1982 Najim left Pakistan and headed with his family towards the United States of America but he was still learning.

In 1992 he got the opportunity to learn from the great USTAD AJOY CHAKRABARTY from PATYALA GHARANA who became Najim's ideal and his primary USTAD.

Najim is also supported by his loving family. His brother Hamed Nawabi who is primarily trained by USTAD GHULAM ABBAS KHAN is the youngest star of the family and a very good Tabla player. He is often heard performing with Najim in concert an also at his upcoming album.

Najim has performed with Jheela in Chabot College in California, which was a success. Jheela is known as one of the greatest female singers of the Afghan community who also performed with MOHAMMAD RAFI the GREAT singer of India while he visited Afghanistan.

He also performed with HANGAMA another best female singer in Afghanistan.

In the year 2003 Najim was busy performing in 6 cities of Europe. All his concerts in Europe were a phenomenal success.

He released SAZ-E-BAHAR in the year 2004 and also a double CD in 2006, which will be released soon. These albums have a combination of Farsi, Pushto and Urdo songs and will surely be the biggest HIT in the Afghan community.

Najim's next project will be a new album. The music for this album was given by HARJEET MEHNDI and KHALED KAYHAN.
